Buyer safety checklist
- β Always communicate using on-platform messages β never on Telegram, WhatsApp, or email until ready to transact.
- β Check the seller's profile, sales history, and reviews before making an offer.
- β For purchases over $500, use escrow (e.g. Escrow.com) β buyer and seller both protected.
- β Verify the product before releasing payment (e.g. domain in registrar lock, code repo access, transferable account ownership).
- β Save all conversation history and listing screenshots.
- β Never wire money to strangers via Western Union, MoneyGram, or non-recoverable methods.
- β Never share gift card codes as "payment".
- β Never click suspicious links sent in chat.
Seller safety checklist
- β Confirm payment received (cleared in your account) before handing over the digital asset.
- β Use escrow for high-value sales β chargeback fraud is real.
- β Keep ownership records, screenshots, and transfer logs.
- β Never send a digital asset on the promise of payment to come.
- β Never trust "buyers" who insist on paying via unusual methods.
Common scam patterns to watch for
- Triangulation: "Buyer" pays with stolen card, asks you to ship to a third party.
- Overpayment: "Buyer" sends $1000 for a $500 item, asks for $500 refund.
- Off-platform pivot: Strong push to move to Telegram or WhatsApp early β 99% of the time, scam.
- Fake escrow: Scammer recommends a fake escrow service controlled by them. Always use Escrow.com or comparable trusted services.
- Phishing: Fake login pages or "verification" links via DMs.
